He gave her all, through his youth. Maybe he was too naive, and too worried, about things only the “grown ups” should worry about. Them who didn’t live or love half as much, as he did. She left him, and took his still shiny youth with her. He aged.
It was only with Lo in the morning, Lola in slacks, Dolly at school, Dolores on the dotted line, and of course, forever Lolita in his arms… That he was finally prepared to be young… Younger than he had ever been, many years before.
